Indications

biocade® dura is a versatile product intended for use in multiple neurosurgical indications:

• Cranial or spinal dural defects where primary closure is not achievable
• Duraplasty in Chiari malformation procedures
• Repair of rhinorrhea / CSF leaks (onlay, underlay, or sandwich techniques)
• Reconstruction after excision of tumors, cysts, or spinal CSF fistulas
• Dural repair following decompressive surgery or trauma

Cranial dural defects

• Dural repair following decompressive surgery

CSF fistula and rhinorrhea repairs

• Can be used for (rhino)rrhea / CSF fistula repairs with overlay, underlay, or sandwich techniques.
• Supports dural reconstruction after excision of tumors, cysts, or spinal CSF fistulas.
• May be used as a duraplasty material in Chiari malformation surgery.

Biological Mechanism

• The native collagen matrix provides a temporary mechanical barrier that helps prevent CSF leakage.

Surgical Techniques

Underlay technique

biocade® dura is placed beneath the defect so that it comes into contact with the existing dura mater. If required, it can be secured with sutures.

Onlay technique

The material is placed over the dural defect. It can be shaped according to the anatomy of the surgical field.

SEM Microstructure

The compact membrane structure, composed of native collagen fibers derived from pericardial tissue, shows a homogeneous fibrillar organization in SEM images. This regular micro-architecture forms the basis of the biological performance that supports tissue integration and neodura formation.
